The inspiration for Dear Alex Jewelry
My father wasn’t a man of many words but he was a hardworking man of action that always put God and his family first. Communicating how he felt did not come easy but he expressed his unwavering love for us by always showing up. I understood this about him and his actions always found a way to speak clearly to my heart.
Every time a birthday or other special event came around, I spent time carefully selecting a card with the words that best expressed my love and appreciation for him. This was my opportunity to catch up on all the unspoken words of love between us. I distinctly remember how he cherished reading every one of those cards that I gave him.
Dear Alex Jewelry was born from the desire to honor my father, Joseph Alexander (aka Alex) and the special connection that we shared.
The Founder, Jennifer Hatfield
I lost my dear father when I was 41. I became a widow just prior to that at only 34. I’ve experienced great loss but that came only after experiencing great love. Everything I’ve been through is a push for me to remind others to take the time to build deep connections in relationships and not leave space for regrets. We never know how long we have with those that we love.
Gifts and expression have always been a part of my personal mission. Back in 2006, I launched an online stationery & gift shop. Myself and my talented staff grew the business substantially. Seven years later, I realized that my heart was no longer in it and I made the difficult decision to close.
I took a year off to be still and embrace the unknown. I spent my time serving in my community and God eventually opened a door for me to work within the local school district. I’ve had wonderful experiences and met some great people, yet something was still missing. That subtle feeling never left me.
Creativity is part of who I am. I love to create beautiful things and celebrate all of life’s moments. I discovered that the missing piece in my life was YOU. As much as I need to breathe, I also need to create. It’s my way of serving and giving back to the world.
It’s my way of helping people like you to foster deeper connections with those that you love.

Meet my son, Dallas. This is my chapter right now and my emotions are all over the place. He just got his permit and this message card was written for him.
